Diskette Holder – ACARS – 3 Hole 8.5 x 11

Description

Engineering department at Aeronautical Radio, Inc. introducted the ACARS system in 1978. Teledyne Controls produced the avionics. ACARS did not experience widespread use by the major airlines until the 1980’s.

Legacy ACARS equipment still uses 3.5 floppy disk.

Ground equipment is made up of a network of radio transceivers managed by a central side computer called AFEPS which handles and routes messages. Usually ground ACARS units are either governement agencies such as the FAA, an airline operations headquarters, or for small airlines and general aviation.

Floppy disk holder pages for 3 ring binders. Holds 6 disks with secure flap. Made from archival quality polypropylene. Secure 3 metal eyelets, will not tear out of binder.
